About the team
A Virginia based team started in 2006 members include DJ Wood, Ashley Taylor, Jeremiah Keeler, Brent Lorton, Matt Ader, John Lloyd & Josh Ray.
This team was formed to promote Big Pearl Paintball, Inc. And with the additional purpose of collecting a group of players to commit to playing together in order to become better players. Since forming we have attended events in TN, VA, NC, OH, PA. Fields we have visited include, Splat Brothers, EMR, Red River, Paintball Virginia, Command Decisions, The Swamp, Fox Brothers & Skyline.
We take a philosophy of controlled aggression into each game we play. We take an aggressive approach towards the start of each game by running to take the best position it allows our team to dictate the game to our opponent. By being in good condition is allows us to beat most teams to those spots.
Why the name
Carpenter Bees live in woods and are very ferocious when threatened. Normal bee’s sting once and lose their stinger then die. A carpenter bee never loses it’s stinger, so it can continue attacking it’s victim. When attacking, a carpenter bee will continue stinging it’s opponent until one of them is killed.

How do I join?
First, understand that we take a lot of pride in being a Carpenter Bee. We believe we are one of the best woodsball teams in the world. And while we encourage others to come play with us, we are very selective about who can join our team. If you want to be on our team and your not at that level yet then keep practicing and let us know you are interested. We‘ll do everything we can to help you get to that level.
We’re are currently looking for more players, but we’re never in a hurry to just add someone. Being a nice person and playing at our field is necessary, but does not by any means guarantee you for membership.
In order to add a new member all existing member must be able to say with 100% certainty that a player belongs on the team. Conversely, only half the members need to vote for a player to be removed from the team.
Conditions for membership
- Home field is Big Pearl Paintball in VA
- Outstanding woodsball player
- Ethical player-Will not cheat under any circumstances
- Must average 1 event/work day per month for at least 1 year before becoming a member
- Each member is expected to make a genuine effort to attend all major scenario’s and must average 1 event/work day per month.
- Must have an electronic gun capable of shooting 15 PBS, an HPA tank.
- Being in good physical condition is a plus, but not required.
- Completely fearless
